By default, we have disabled using PHP's mail() function. This function is often used by hacks to send spam emails. Since PBN sites are usually passive, there's also no need to send emails.
If you still need to send emails, you can send emails by using an external SMTP provider. If you are using WordPress, you can use any available SMTP plugin.
